Our workshops are an engaging introduction to the world of puppetry and animated theatre. They involve making and bringing puppets to life and can be booked in conjunction with one of our shows or as a stand alone half day, full day or a series of sessions.
Each show has a different session complementing the type of puppetry used. We work with 3D puppetry, objects and shadows.
Sessions are tailored for all abilities.
“We especially loved the puppet workshops!” Womad Festival
“Very impressive demonstration and delivery” Eden Project
“Our most difficult children were completely engrossed with the puppet making session”
Saxon Mount School, St Leonards
Our half day special, which incorporates a short shadow
show, is followed by a shadow making session which again
is tailored to different ages and ability.
An interactive exploration to the depths of the ocean using the medium of shadow puppetry, participants will enjoy a fantastical shadow performance and then create their own underwater characters and adventures – mingling with the existing sea creatures and exploring mysterious caves and colourful coral reefs which make up the layers of ocean life.
This is a workshop introducing people of all ages and interests to the world of shadow theatre – which has origins in many different corners of the world. The session involves various activities – from being a spectator – through to making and manipulation. Participants will practice skills in crafting jointed 2 and 3D characters, experimenting with silhouettes and colour and will use our shadow screen to bring creations to life, whilst bending narratives to their own invention.
Aside from the pleasure of creating bespoke mini performances, participants will explore different life forms and behaviour within the geography of the sea – some of which may not even have ever existed!
“Great! A really enjoyable afternoon!” “We loved it” Harlow Playhouse
